Chapter 5586
Whitley's face was awful during the entire meal.
Harlan didn't know what happened. He didn't know what to say, since he had always been timid with his wife.
When Whitley returned to her bedroom after the awkward meal, Harlan finally spoke to Harvey.
"Don't mind your aunt. She's been like that since forever.
"How about this? You must be pretty unfamiliar here since it's your first day. I'll get Billie to go shopping with you. You can buy some essentials while you're at it.
"You don't have to worry about living here."
Harlan quietly snuck Harvey a silver card.
Harvey knew Harlan would be suspicious if he rejected the card. After all, he was here to seek support. He decided to take the card, thinking of returning it when it was time for him to leave. Not long after, Harlan got a call from his company and left.
Billie smiled, but after Harlan left, she turned to Harvey and demanded coldly, "Hand it over!"
"What?" Harvey froze.
"Playing dumb, are we? Hand over my dad's bank card! That's his savings! I won't let you waste all that money!"
Harvey didn't think Billie would notice it. He instantly gave her the card, as he couldn't be bothered to talk to her.
Seeing Harvey so direct, Billie froze.
"I have things to do," she said haughtily, "so you can just go shopping alone."
Billie thought Harvey would beg for her to come along. Much to her surprise, he didn't even consider her words, since he finally had the time to do his own thing.
"Sure. I know the way," he said after standing up.
Then, he casually walked away.
Billie froze once more after seeing Harvey walk off that easily. She felt a little hesitant, and decided to hold herself back from calling Harvey.
Whitley came out of her bedroom as soon as Harvey left.
"The kid left?"
Billie nodded, then handed the bank card to Whitley.
"You were right, Mom. Dad did give him money. Thank goodness I found out! We
would've lost so much money if that wasn't the case."
Whitley glared at the card with a disdainful look.
"Your dad's a good man, but he dwells too much in the past.
