Chapter: 63
But it stopped when it reached the bottom of her shoulder blade.
Holding her breath, Ariana prayed he wouldn’t continue his trajectory down her body.
Suddenly, he grabbed her shoulder and pressed her even closer to his chest. As he held her, he stepped backward, dragging her
with him.
She attempted to resist, scratching at his wrist and trying to pry his fingers from her.
Nothing worked. He was simply too strong. His broad arms remained wrapped tightly around her.
Feeling she had no other choice, she yelled out, bursting into tears, “Please, let me go! I’ll give you whatever you want!”
The man paused, and then she felt the grip around her loosen, and a small push on her back.
Thrown off balance, Ariana stumbled forward and reached out to the wall to steady herself.
When she turned around, the man had disappeared.
She could feel her legs wobbling under her, but she gritted her teeth and grabbed a broom from the corner of the restroom.
Tiptoeing out, she held the broom as a weapon by her side.
The corridor was empty.
Ariana looked like a mess. Her face was streaked with tears, her hair rumpled, and her dress wrinkled. She looked down and
saw the scratch marks Jett had left on her arms.
She walked down the corridor warily but there was no sight of the man.
He had saved her but he had also aggravated her.
Either way, she had to find out who he was.
Broom in hand, she walked on. Then the sound of wheels rolling came into earshot.
When she turned the corner, she saw Theodore unexpectedly.
At the sight of Theodore, Ariana’s eyes widened. “What are you doing here?”
Theodore held up an invitation. “I was invited, of course. Is that so strange?”
It was strange. He hadn’t been to an event like this in a long time. But she kept these thoughts to herself.
Theodore scanned her up and down and returned the question. “What are you doing here? And what’s with the broom?”
Ariana’s heart skipped a beat. Gripping the broom tighter, she replied with another question. “Did you see someone running past
just now?”
