Big Novel

Wife by Day, Boss by Night by Thalia Quillspeak

Chapter 138
Sadie, a long–time confidante of the Howard family, shouldn’t have been gossiping with Natalie. But the sight of Brian’s agony
had her heart twisted in sympathy.
After a moment of hesitation, she fished out an envelope and two torn photographs from her purse and handed them to Natalie.
Ever since the incident involving Brian, Sadie had been suspicious and kept her eyes wide open. Natalie examined the contents
attentively. These must have been taken when Gavin took her to the James family that afternoon, snapped by someone lurking
in the distance.
No wonder Brian was livid. Despite Gavin’s strict instructions against leaks, the news had reached Brian.
She turned the envelope over in her hands, her eyes catching a small watermark in the corner – “Exclusive to Verve Vision.”
Verve Vision was a well–known domestic media powerhouse, notorious for exposing celebrity
scandals.
Though Gavin was the CEO of an entertainment company, he wasn’t a celebrity himself or a regular target for paparazzi. He was
a man of status, not easily trifled with.
Thus, it was highly unlikely that any reporter would risk such danger to snap candid photos of him.
As for herself, having only acted in a few productions since returning to the country, she was hardly a magnet for the press. Not
unless someone deliberately sold the photos to Verve

Vision.
“Sadie, do you have any idea what the going rate is for this kind of entertainment scoop?” Natalie asked after a thoughtful pause,
meeting Sadie’s gaze.
“Well, it varies.” Sadie replied. “Depends on the story’s value. But from what Reid mentioned, it’s not too steep. Anything from a
few thousand to tens of thousands is normal.”
Nodding thoughtfully. Natalie realized that a story like hers with Gavin wasn’t worth the frenzy of a trending search. Its real value
lay in provoking the Howard family.
Connecting the dots, she figured this low blow could only have been the work of the Wright family or perhaps Madelyn.
Considering both Lydia and Gracia were at the mall that day, and judging by the quality of the photo, which clearly seems to be
taken with a phone rather than a professional camera, it must have been snapped by Gracia.
Knowing Natalie had pieced it together, Sadie added after a while, “Natalie, you should settle in here. Ms. Harris has moved out
and doesn’t live here anymore.”
Chapter 138
“Moved out?” Natalie was taken aback.
“Yes, she found a new place,” Sadie confirmed, then added, “Mr. Howard himself saw to her departure.”
Reflecting on it, Sadie realized Brian must have had his reasons. How else could Natalie move in if Madelyn hadn’t left?

Deep down, Brian cared a great deal about Natalle, even if he was too stubborn to admit it. Brian wasn’t one to express his
feelings openly. Even if he was head over heels and constantly worried about Natalie, he wouldn’t voice it.
Sadie had watched Brian grow up and knew his character inside and out.
“For what reason?” Natalie couldn’t help but ask.
Shaking her head, Sadie replied, “I’m not sure. It might be related to Nate getting hurt. Mr. Howard felt that Ms. Harris wasn’t
attentive enough to him and grew disappointed.”
Natalie pondered for a moment before asking with a furrowed brow. “And about Robert, was there really a plane crash?”
“The official statement said so, but you heard Ms. Harris earlier. There might be news about Robert. We’ll have to wait for Mr.
Howard to return for a final verdict. Right now, nobody can say for sure.” Sadie whispered back.
Because the situation with Robert was complicated and Brian avoided discussing his disappearance, Sadie knew very little.
“The Smith family must be devastated. Mr. Smith only had that one son,” Natalie said, her concern creasing her forehead.
