‘That’s right.”
Gaerel looked at him. ‘The Path of Heavenly Awakening has existed since the Sky Burial Age. Also, the entrance to this
mysterious realm is guarded by the Ursas.”
James’ eyes widened.
‘Who would have thought that it was actually the Ursas who were guarding this mysterious, legendary realm?!’ he thought.
James asked in a slightly raised voice, “In that case, might I ask how many of your people have managed to pass the Path of
Heavenly Awakening so far?”
Gaerel gave a small sigh as he shook his head. “There are nine trials on the Path of Heavenly Awakening. Since a long time
ago, we have been sending the gifted ones from our race into the realm. Sadly, none of them has ever made it to the ninth trial.”
His explanation further piqued James’ interest.
“Alright. I agree to your terms. It doesn’t matter if I fail. I would really like to enter the Path of Heavenly Awakening and see what
this mysterious realm is all about myself.”
Gaerel gazed at the man before him.
‘I can’t wait to see if this man, who’s hailed as the most promising cultivator of our era, is able to pass all nine trials
of the Path of Heavenly Awakening.
‘If he does, that means he has the potential to reach the Caelum Acme Rank. Then, it’d be right for us to pick the Doom Race’s
side. Once he achieves the Caelum Acme Rank, the humans will no longer be a threat to us,’ Gaerel concluded inwardly.
‘There are a few things that I need to warn you about,” Gaerel said.
James replied, “I’m all ears.”
Gaerel began, ‘The Path of Heavenly Awakening is a strange and interesting realm. Anything can happen inside that place.
There’s a chance you may lose your life there. You will get a chance to leave the realm each time you pass a trial. However, if
you get stuck in one of the trials, you’ll remain stuck forever.”
After a brief pause, Gaerel went on, “Inside the Path of Heavenly Awakening, you may encounter projected images of past
famous, powerful cultivators that have existed in the history of the Greater Realms. Naturally, those cultivators would be on the
same rank as the challenger. Still, they are nonetheless a group of very formidable opponents.”
James felt more and more excited as he listened to the details about the Path of Heavenly Awakening.
Gaerel got up from his seat the next instant. Then, he walked over to James’ side.
“Come with me. I’ll show you to the place.”
The two of them headed out of the main hall, followed by the Ursa men. Then, Gaerel led the group of them onto a mountainous
path and deeper into the woods.
Soon afterward, they arrived at a quiet and secluded area. James could sense that the area was under heavy protection as there
were numerous formations cast around the place. He could also see Ursa guards stationed around the area.
Gaerel lifted his arm and activated one of the formations. A huge, strange door appeared before everyone’s eyes the next
instant.
The door was formed by innumerable mysterious inscriptions. Although James had mastered the Primal Mantra, he was having
some difficulty reading and understanding those inscriptions.
“Wyot, before you enter, you should leave us with a letter. We will pass the letter to the Dooms if you fail to survive the trials,”
Gaerel said.
James raised his palm and conjured an inscription. Then, he handed it over to Gaerel.
‘You should give this to Sir Youri if that happens.”
Gaerel accepted the inscription. Then, he gestured toward the door. “Wyot, you may enter and experience one of the most
difficult realms known to all living beings now. I hope you’ll successfully overcome all nine trials.”
