James had no intention of getting into any fights with the Ursas. He quickly implied that he was only there to carry out Youri’s
orders.
“Besides...”
James went on, “All of you must have received the news from the Dooms. Madam Thea of the Human Race is still alive. What’s
more, that mysterious human has also been making frequent appearances during recent battles.
Humans have begun to take action. Our Patriarch, Sir Youri, has only very little time left.”
“It’s very important that Sir Youri obtain the Blithe Omniscience and achieve the Caelum Acme Rank as soon as possible. Once
Sir Youri has reached that rank, he’ll be able to keep those of the Human Race in check and buy more time for all the other
races.”
“However, if the humans managed to rise and gain power again, we would definitely have to suffer their wrath for what had
happened in the past. I wonder if the Ursas will be able to stand a chance against the humans when that happens.”
James calmly laid out the facts for them.
Gaerel had discussed the matter with the Patriarchs of the other races, and all of them had agreed to hand over their tokens to
the Dooms.
‘Still, I am feeling rather reluctant to hand over the token. My people feel the same as well.’ Gaerel pondered.
“Wyot Dalibor, I can give you the token.” Gaerel focused his gaze on the man from the Doom Race. Then, he said slowly,
“However, you have to fight and earn it.”
“Huh?”
James looked at Gaerel. “So, you want to settle this through a fight? I know very well that I’m no match for Sir Gaerel. If
defeating Sir Gaerel is the condition for you to give up the token, then I will head back and inform Sir Youri about this. I’m sure
Sir Youri is willing to come and take you up on the challenge.”
James brought up Youri’s name again to intimidate the Ursas since the man had reached the Ninth Rank of the Omniscience
Path.
“You’re not going to fight with me, of course.” Youri continued, “I’ve talked to the other patriarchs, and we all agree that only the
Dooms and the humans stand a chance to rise to be the strongest group in the near future.”
“We’ve noticed how the Human Race’s providence has increased far more than the other races. At the same time, the Doom
Race’s providence has risen too.”
“I’m not sure if it’s you or Youri who has brought about the change. Nevertheless, it’s rather risky for our people to give all our
support to the Dooms now. If your people failed to defeat the humans later on, we would surely be targeted by the humans as
well.”
James listened to Gaerel intently as the man went on
XSZ
explaining.
“You possess the Thousand Paths Holy Body, and you’ve mastered the Chaos Sacred Art. I have yet to grasp your full potential.
Hence, I’m not sure if I should be placing my faith in you. If you want to have the Ursa’s token, you’ll need to pass the Nine Trials
of the Ursa Race first.”
James furrowed his brows.
‘I need to pass nine trials to get a token? What about the other eight tokens? Do I have to go through another nine trials for each
token?’ James complained inwardly.
Gaerel could tell what James was thinking just by looking at his face. ‘The other patriarchs and I have come to an agreement. If
you agree to take on the trials, I’ll inform the other patriarchs and have them bring along their tokens. You’ll receive all nine
tokens once you pass.”
‘That’s perfect.”
James smiled. “I can save a lot of time if we do that. I’m curious, though. What are the Nine Trials of the Ursa Race?”
Gaerel asked, “Have you heard of the Path of Heavenly Awakening?”
‘The Path of Heavenly Awakening?” James’ eyes narrowed.
He could not recall anything like that in his own memory. However, he found some information when he tried to access Wyot’s
memories instead.
James slowly nodded. “I’ve read about it before from the Doom Race’s ancient scrolls. It is a path that has existed since ancient
times. According to legends, a person who manages to pass through the Path of Heavenly Awakening will have the potential to
achieve the Caelum Acme Rank.”
