Chapter 1118
Ethan, usually so adept at reading the room, especially Lysander’s mood, found himself in a tight spot.
In the presence of Lysander, Thalassa boldly sidestepped him and directly asked Ethan if she could take her leave.
Momentarily flustered, Ethan shot Thalassa a glance before offering a sheepish smile in Lysander’s direction. “Does Mr. Sinclair
feel that Ms. Everhart has completed her tasks?” he asked, cleverly tossing the ball into Lysander’s court.
For Lysander, it was a straightforward decision. If he stated that Thalassa’s work was done, she would be free to leave;
otherwise, she would remain.
Thalassa, well acquainted with Ethan’s shrewdness, wasn’t surprised by his maneuv shifting her gaze to Lysander.
Lysander’s expression remained inscrutable, maintaining a cool demeanor as he tapped his long fingers on the tabletop. His
eyes revealed nothing of his thoughts.
Before Lysander could respond, Susan, who had been flipping through some documents, chimed in casually, “Ms. Everhart,
these papers included the advertisement I shot yesterday. You were such a help directing that shoot and made our campaign
sizzle. If I hit the big time, you bet you’ll be the first one I thank, my dear sister.”
Susan’s words seemed gracious, thanking Thalassa, but the undertone was clear-self-promotion at Thalassa’s expense. If
Susan’s star rose, she would be the celebrity, while Thalassa remained the invisible assistant. How could the two be compared?
Having just been snubbed by Lysander, Susan was looking to regain some ground at Thalassa’s expense. Thalassa despised
Bruce’s family’s attempts to connect with her. She could let the first part slide, but Susan’s “my dear sister” hit a nerve.
“Oh, you should definitely thank me. Without my help, you wouldn’t have tasted a few of those ‘delicious pies’ that everyone finds
unforgettable, right, Lucy?” Thalassa said with a mocking smile, yet her eyes were ice-cold.
Lucy, hearing this, felt her cheeks burn in embarrassment. She touched her face, feeling a sting of pain and looked at Susan in
confusion and alarm.
What did Thalassa mean by that?
Was Susan slapped too?
Lucy was clueless about Susan’s ordeal since Susan had claimed an overnight work session at a hotel to avoid telling her
parents about the humiliating incident.
Bruce’s gaze was filled with a mixture of concern and confusion as he looked at Susan.

Chapter 1118
Under the weight of her parents’ probing eyes, Susan’s face flushed with embarrassment and panic. She didn’t want her parents
to find out about being slapped by Thalassa-it was too shameful. So, she had lied about working late.
But now Thalassa had spilled the beans, and Susan felt her pride crumbling, her discomfort burning within her. She quickly
closed the documents, trying to shift the conversation. “Mom, Dad, it’s a good idea to invest in Crawley Group’s stocks. With the
ad campaign I’m leading, the new phone is bound to sell like hotcakes, and Crawley’s stock will soar.”
“That’s what your mother suggested, so we’ve invested two hundred thousand in Crawley’s stocks,” Bruce revealed.
“Well, that’s great. I mean, I’m the kind of person who can make two hundred thousand in no time. Money is no object,” Susan
boasted, throwing a smug glance at Thalassa.
That look was like a dagger to Thalassa’s heart.
Susan was deliberately flaunting the two hundred thousand in front of Thalassa, boasting about her night with Lysander and the
hefty sum she had gained.
