Chapter 796
“Right, Mr. Ethan?” Thalassa asked with a playful glint in her eyes as she turned to Ethan.
Earlier, Ethan had used her as an excuse to give gifts to Leopold, now she was returning the favor, assuring Leopold that Ethan
was concerned about
him.
Catching her teasing gaze, Ethan paused for a moment before replying, “Indeed, Leopold, take care of yourself. No need to rush
your recovery. If anything goes wrong, it’s on me.”
“The responsibility isn’t yours; it’s the Sinclair Group’s,” Leopold retorted, his eyes dark and expression gloomy as he looked
towards Ethan.
Thalassa had just addressed Leopold as Mr. Sinclair, putting a distance between them. Was she deliberately avoiding him?
Couldn’t he see what Thalassa was trying to do?
She was afraid of causing misunderstandings with Lysander, hence she kept her distance.
Her carefulness made Leopold feel pathetic. He was unable to make the woman he loved happy or to change the present
circumstances.
Seeing Thalassa coming to visit, he was thrilled, but her calling him Mr. Sinclair extinguished his joy, causing a twinge of pain in
his heart.
When Leopold mentioned the Sinclair Group, Thalassa and Ethan exchanged glances, unsure of how to respond to his question,
as the matter was still unsettled.
“Ethan, thank you for visiting Leopold and bringing all these gifts. You’re very thoughtful,” Amelia stood up, wiping away her tears
and thanked Ethan with
a smile.
She then glanced at Thalassa, her polite demeanor suddenly changing. “However, Ethan, the person you brought today has
filled the room with negativity. Someone doesn’t know her limit, stringing along two men. What’s her game?”
Amelia had always been critical of Thalassa, going as far as kidnapping her.
If it were not for Lysander supporting Thalassa, she would have gotten rid of her a long time ago.
Now her son was hospitalized, Amelia’s mood was already down, and seeing Thalassa only intensified her hatred.
She knew Leopold couldn’t forget Thalassa, so wasn’t her presence just a torment to him?
Thalassa bit her lip without a word, realizing Amelia’s sarcastic jabs at her.
“Mom, don’t say stuff like that. What are you implying?” Leopold chided Amelia, his face pale with discontent.
“My dear, I’m just speaking my mind. Don’t get so upset,” Amelia hastily soothed Leopold’s temper.
At this point, Zephyr, who had been sitting on the other side of the bed, stood up. He walked over to Ethan, his imposing
presence and hawk-like eyes
stern.
“Zephyr, it’s been a while. You are in such good shape,” Ethan complimented Zephyr with a smile.
On entering the room, he had already greeted Zephyr briefly with a nod and a smile, but didn’t say much.
Their main purpose was to visit Leopold.
Now that Zephyr had approached, Ethan acted respectful and courteous.
Without acknowledging his compliment, Zephyr shot him a stern glance, then turned to Thalassa, his gaze filled with contempt
and hostility.
“Save your flattery. No matter what you do, you’ll never marry into the Sinclair family! Even if you bear four children for Lysander,
there’s still a world of difference between you two! Lysander will never marry you, and you and Leopold are even less likely!
Don’t disrupt the harmony of the Sinclair family! Today, I’ll let it slide that you came to visit Leopold with Ethan, but next time,
don’t bother!”
Zephyr’s words were direct and stern, reflecting his true feelings.
Thalassa felt a pang in her heart, his words cutting deep. Her face hardened as she responded, “I understand. I’ll leave now.”
With that, she quickly exited the room.
“Leopold, rest well. I’ll be leaving too, and I’ll come to see you another day,” Seeing Thalassa leave, Ethan quickly excused
himself and followed her out.
