Chapter 853
The story revolves around a previously occurred explosion at a mall due to a mobile phone malfunction, and the resolution that
followed.
The Sinclair group issued a statement, taking full responsibility for the tragic blast caused by the poor quality of mobile phones
produced by their subsidiary, Leossa Electronics. The unfortunate incident led to the accidental death of two workers.
The Sinclair group expressed their willingness to shoulder all the blame and compensate the families of the deceased workers
with a total of 1.001 billion; a million for the funerals and a billion as compensation.
With a definitive cause of the accident and a solution presented, the case seemed to come to an end.
Upon hearing the news, Thalassa felt out of sorts. She recalled Leopold previously stating that the explosion was due to the
substandard phones produced by the Sinclair group and that they should bear all responsibility.
She and Ethan had sought out Lysander for answers, but he insisted that the case was fishy and cautioned against hasty
conclusions. This led to the delay in the resolution of the accident, and the workers’ families had made several demonstrations.
To her surprise, the end result was the same as the initial conjecture.
If this was the case, why had Lysander mentioned that there was something suspicious and was reluctant to intervene?
Thalassa was feeling a bit worried.
“My son, the matter has finally been resolved. You paid the price with your life to reach a fair solution. Are you satisfied?” Amelia
clutched her phone tightly, tears streaming down her face as she spoke to the heavens.
Thalassa was taken aback, “What do you mean? Leopold solved this with his life?”
Wiping her tears, Amelia answered, “Leopold went to Lysander to resolve the issue that day. But when Lysander was reluctant,
he did something unthinkable to give the workers’ families closure.”
Boom!
Thalassa felt as if a bomb had exploded in her mind. She was stunned to the point of being paralyzed on the spot/
Leopold hadn’t committed suicide out of despair; instead, he had been driven to death by Lysander.
Why did this happen? Why?
What benefit did Lysander have in forcing Leopold to his death?
Thalassa was suffocating; her heart clenched tight in her chest and she couldn’t catch a breath.
She didn’t remember how she left Leopold’s office.
Walking aimlessly in the street, she was jolted back to reality when a car screeched to a halt just inches from her.
“Watch where you’re going, you suicidal maniac!” The driver shouted in the aftermath of fear. He quickly reversed the vehicle,
turned the steering wheel, and drove away.
The wind whipped up by the car hit Thalassa’s face, causing her pale cheeks to sting.
She wiped her cheek and found her hand wet with tears. She had been crying, but she had been unaware.
She couldn’t comprehend why Lysander had driven Leopold to his death. Was Lysander so ruthless that he would disregard
even the life of his own nephew?
Standing by the roadside and watching the cars whizz by, Thalassa felt a deep pit of emptiness in her heart. As a large truck
sped toward her, it was too late to brake.
“Watch out!” With a shout, a figure dashed towards her.
The figure grabbed her and rolled with her into the roadside bushes, narrowly avoiding the truck.
