The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike

Chapter 421
“No need. I won’t change it for the time being. I’ll wait till I’ve gained some practical results and have a stronger resume before I
seek out a new job,” Lillian said.
“Don’t you mind that those people did that to you in the past?”
“Yes, but...” Lillian shrugged and said, “This is part of being an adult, right? Take me for instance-although I didn’t get along well
with those people, I had to continue staying here for the sake of earning a living. But as for them... Well, the one who wanted to
humiliate me was the second daughter of the Hamilton family-Yvette. If they were to stand on my side, that would mean that they
are going against Yvette. We were not that close, so they had no reason to do anything for me, right?” Callum was a little
flabbergasted. He did not think of that. She had seen through everything.
However, after saying that, she stiffened and looked at him with a strange look.
“What’s the matter? Why are you looking at me like that?” He frowned slightly.
She pursed her lips and said after a long while, “Nothing... I’m hungry. I want to eat something.”
“Okay.” Callum smiled.
Because it was not dinner time, Callum took Lillian to a popular dessert shop for a bite.
Lillian ordered desserts that she was interested in, but she was still absent-minded. Her gaze was still fixed on Callum.
He naturally sensed her weird behavior. But he felt good being watched by her like that.
“What’s going on today? Do you like looking at me so much?” Callum asked with a smile.
Lillian bit her lips. Everyone in the world knew how to seek advantage and avoid harm. She could rationalize that if her
colleagues and the chief officer were afraid to oppose Yvette, they would dare not interfere with what had happened between her
and the latter.
However, when she had a conflict with Jonathan, he did not hesitate for a moment to intervene. He also helped her take on all
the responsibilities. Someone like him must have known that once he interfered, he would have gone against Jonathan.
He chose to stand on her side and had been willing to be her leverage.

“Could this all be pretense? But what if this is real?” she thought.
“Callum, do you really like me?” Lillian suddenly asked.
Callum narrowed his eyes, surprised. He could feel her sense of seriousness.
He opened his thin lips and said, “Yes.” The simple answer conveyed his affection clearly.
“Then, will
you still take revenge on me?” Lillian took a deep breath and continued to ask, “Will you dump me after I fall in love with you?”
He sighed and said, “If I just want to take revenge on you, then why would I do so many things for you? Lillian, do you really think
the reason I’ve been with you this period of time is for revenge?”
She was speechless.
These days, if she took into consideration the moments he had spent with her, he would have hit a high score if there were a
boyfriend scorecard.
Sometimes she could not help but think that if she could find a boyfriend in the future, she would be really happy if he would treat
her as well as Callum did.
He made her realize what it would be like to be well taken care of by a man.
“Callum, I think I have really gotten to like you. If you are willing, how about we date officially? This is no longer about taking
revenge but becoming official boyfriend and girlfriend,” Lillian said.
It was the first time that she had confessed her love to a man so seriously.
She did not want to avoid the feeling in her heart. Since she was really moved, she did not want to miss him.
To rephrase, she had missed a chance once, three years ago, so right then, she did not want to miss the second.
He locked his gaze on her with his beautiful eyes as if he wanted to understand her thoroughly by just looking at her. “Are you
really going to date me?” His voice was slightly hoarse.
She nodded.

“But you should know that this time, if we really date, you cannot leave me anyhow. You did not say a word when you the last
time. I can ignore that. But in the future, if you leave without saying a word, I might really break your legs so that you will not be
able to go anywhere.”
Every word Callum said sounded like a final warning given to her.
Lillian’s body trembled for a moment, and she left a tooth mark on her red lips.
“No-not just leaving without saying goodbye... You do not even have the right to break up with me,” Callum said. He could not
even imagine being able to let her go if he had truly captured her heart.
He feared that if that time came, he would not give her a chance to leave him. Even if she no longer liked him or even hated him,
he would not let go.
Lillian looked at Callum in shock, and the tooth mark on her red lips became deeper.
He emphasized each word as he asked, “If you hate me in the future, I won’t break up with you even if you cry or scream or
kneel and beg. Do you still want to date me?”
The elegant voice sounded as beautiful as a humming cello.
But every word seemed to be so heavy.
Lillian did not realize when her palms had become all sweaty.
Perhaps she had never thought that confessing her love to Callum would cause him to say such things.
It was like he was warning her that if she wanted to run away, she should run away then. Once she missed that opportunity, she
would not have a chance to run away in the future.
But did she really want to run away and miss being with the man again? Or should she take a gamble on them never breaking up
with each other?
If they bet on their love, they would do well.

She was never a lucky gambler. She would lose mostly if she played poker.
But right then, she wanted to bet on that with the rest of her life.
“I... I want to be with you!” She heard her voice say that.
Lillian felt that that was the most important decision she had made in her life.
That was how they changed from being in a fake relationship to a real one.
However, as she was thinking about how Rosalie had just broken up with Jonathan not long ago, she did not tell Rosalie about
that for the time being. She only planned to talk about it again after a while.
At night, Lillian made a video call with Rosalie. “Have you tried on the clothes and shoes I bought for you? Did they fit?”
