Chapter 604
Rosalie didn’t bother to watch Fiona’s performance. Fiona’s words were enough for Rosalie to understand that Lucas was
framed by Fiona.
Rosalie didn’t understand why Fiona framed Lucas in such a matter. They had no connection whatsoever.
At this moment, a police officer said to Rosalie, “You must be Lucas’ representative lawyer. You can go in and talk with him now,
but you only have half an hour.”
“Okay!” Rosalie replied quickly. Just as she was about to walk forward, a hand suddenly grabbed her wrist from behind her and
asked, “Are you Lucas’ representative lawyer?”
Rosalie turned around and saw Calvin’s face. There was a flash of surprise on her face as she didn’t expect Calvin to leave the
hospital and come to the police station.
“Why did
you leave the hospital? Did the doctor give you permission to be here?” she inquired. Despite the fact that the bandages on his
head and body had been removed smoothly yesterday, in all honesty, he shouldn’t have been discharged from the hospital for at
least a few more days.
“Are you really going to be Lucas’ representative lawyer?” Calvin didn’t answer her question but asked her instead. “He is my
friend, and I believe he’s innocent,” Rosalie said.
Fiona immediately interjected from the side. “Are you saying that I’ve wronged Lucas? He is a monster! If the passer-by were to
arrive later, he might have truly succeeded in his heinous deed. Rosalie, just because he’s your friend, doesn’t mean it’s
impossible for him to commit such a despicable act. Why do you place so much trust in him?”
“That’s because I know sometimes the evidence doesn’t necessarily reflect the truth!” Rosalie responded firmly.
However, her affirmative response caused Calvin to furrow his brow. At that moment, the police officer urged Rosalie, “Please,
let’s not waste any more time.”
“Okay! Coming now!” Rosalie answered, pulled her hand out of Calvin’s hand, and quickly entered the interrogation room Calvin
stared at Rosalie’s back until the interrogation room door was closed. Then he lowered his head and looked at his hand that had
just held her, lost in thought.
Fiona’s voice filled his ears. “I can’t believe Rosalie would choose to believe Lucas over me. Why would I falsely accuse
someone of sexually assaulting me? Does she think I have no dignity? How could Rosalie behave this way?”
Fiona kept sobbing and then raised her hand to hold Calvin’s arm. “Calvin, you will believe me and help me to seek justice,
right?”
Calvin turned around and looked at Fiona, who was crying piteously in front of him. He said in a deep voice, “If you are really
wronged or hurt, I will definitely help you get the justice you deserve.”
Fiona sniffed. “I... I knew you would protect me. You are still the same Cal when we were young.”
Calvin pursed his thin lips and said, his gaze pensive. “I told you not to call me ‘Cal’ anymore. It was just a childhood
nickname.”
It was as though an instinctive aversion surged within him when he was addressed by that name. He didn’t want to hear the
woman in front of him call him “Cal,” as if it might shatter something precious to him.
Fiona’s face momentarily displayed embarrassment, but she swiftly tried to conceal it. “All right... Calvin, I’ll use Calvin from now
on. Thank you, Calvin. Thank you for keeping your childhood promise to protect me.”
She deliberately mentioned their childhood time many times in an effort to ensure his support on this matter in any situation.
Rosalie entered the interrogation room. The police had finished their interrogation, and Lucas appeared visibly distressed at this
moment. He seemed to be somewhat at a loss.
As soon as he saw Rosalie coming in, he panicked and said, “Rosalie, I... I really didn’t do that kind of thing. I don’t know why
that woman deliberately set me up like this!”
Lucas was clearly bewildered at that moment. After all, he hadn’t been prepared for such a sudden turn of events.
Tell me what happened slowly. Don’t panic! I’m your representative lawyer now to handle your case. If you later find a lawyer
you’re more comfortable with, you can always make that change.” Rosalie comforted him.
Lucas gradually calmed down and said, “Rosalie, thank you!”
Within the span of half an hour, Rosalie learned about the events of that day from Lucas. He was helping to get the report when
Fiona appeared beside him. She said she had sprained her foot and asked him to help her go to the car in the open parking lot
of the hospital.
Seeing Fiona struggling with numerous items in her hands and appearing distressed, Lucas chose to assist her. He helped Fiona
carry the heavy objects to the parking lot.
Then, Fiona requested Lucas’ help to place the items in the back seat of the car. She mentioned that it was too dark to see
clearly and asked Lucas to turn on the flashlight feature on his phone to illuminate the surroundings. Without suspicion, Lucas
unquestionably got into the car.
Little did Lucas know that Fiona would promptly shut the car door and then stage a fabricated scene of an attempted sexual
assault.
The witnesses at that time were individuals who had come to collect their cars and the security guards in the parking lot. There
were five people in total. They all saw Fiona exit the vehicle with a frightened expression while covering her torn
clothes.
Half an hour passed quickly. After hearing what Lucas said, Rosalie frowned unconsciously.
Considering the existing evidence, the situation appeared grim for Lucas. This suggested that Fiona might have been planning
the setup for quite some time. It seemed premeditated rather than a spontaneous act.
It was just that she couldn’t fathom why Fiona would do something like this.
Rosalie couldn’t understand it!
“Rosalie, I... I was told by the police that I would be detained. If I am subsequently found guilty, I could face a prison sentence of
at least one to two years. I...” Lucas wore a visibly fearful expression.
Rosalie fully grasped this fear. She had experienced the same anxiety herself after being detained because of the car accident.
When she realized that all the evidence was against her, she felt the same overwhelming fear.
“Don’t panic. I will help you, definitely!” Rosalie said in an affirmative tone.
Looking at her firm expression, Lucas’ fear gradually faded away “Rosalie, thank you!” Lucas was very grateful.
When Rosalie came out of the interrogation room, Calvin and Fiona were still there.
Calvin fixed his eyes on Rosalie and asked, “Are you still going to help Lucas?”
“He’s my friend. Besides, I believe he is innocent,” Rosalie said.
