"I don't know what you're talking about. You promised me that you'd give up on Lucas, so you better keep your word," Beatrice said, pushing past Thalia to
leave. "Where are you going?" asked Thalia.
Beatrice, being older, could not match the speed and strength of Thalia. She stumbled and felt some discomfort in her arm when Thalia pulled her. She had probably sprained her arm.
"I suggest you don't push your luck! This is my home, so I can go wherever I please. You, a guest, shouldn't act so cocky! Aren't you afraid that I'll call Lucas over?"
Thalia did not care if Beatrice called Lucas over. After all, she had nothing to lose anymore. Moreover, they were in a corner where anyone rarely came over.
Thus, sometimes living in a mansion also came with its own headache. With such a large mansion the Riveras lived in, Thalia was confident that no one would discover it immediately even if she did something to Beatrice there and then.
"Call him over if you're confident you can. Why waste your breath with me here? Weren't you the one who used to look down on me the most? How come you'd rather argue with me now?"
Thalia suddenly got a rush of vindictiveness at seeing Beatrice-who had always made it known to her how much she despised her-acting all meek in front of her.
'Is this old hag afraid of me now because of what she heard? Huh, so she's afraid of death, too!' thought Thalia.
"What do you want?" Beatrice did not want to get entangled with a lunatic. She was indeed afraid that Thalia might go crazy and do something irreparable.
Beatrice was not afraid for her own life but for Lucas and Melody's. She wanted to live to see her grandson and granddaughter-in-law and maybe even a great- grandchild. Thalia, on the other hand, was not worth risking her life for.
"I don't want anything in particular. It's just that you wouldn't even acknowledge me when I address you as 'Grandma Beatrice'. How about apologizing to me now? I just want to hear a sincere apology from you and admit that you were wrong and that I'm the one who's more suitable for Lucas!"
Beatrice looked at Thalia disdainfully.
"Even if I say it, what difference will it make? Can it change the fact that it's Melody who Lucas loves? It's been so many years, and both Lucas and I have told you countless times. Why don't you understand? It's not because of me that Lucas doesn't want to be with you but because he doesn't love you at all! He has no romantic feelings for you, so it's impossible between you two!"

"You're talking nonsense! It's so obvious you've been sowing discord between me and him. Even when m Lucas came to visit me abroad once a year, you'd call him to ask him to hurry back! Do you think I didn't know that? It's because of you that he can't be with me. If it weren't for your meddling, we would've been together long ago."
