"It's all your fault, you old hag!" Thalia said, growing angrier by the moment. She walked slowly toward Beatrice, causing the elderly woman to retreat and grip the railing cautiously. "Fine, it's all my fault. I apologize. But you're still young, what's the point of arguing with an old hag like me? Why not give up on Lucas and find a man who truly loves you?" asked Beatrice.
Thalia smirked coldly, then swung her hand forcefully, landing a heavy blow on Beatrice's arm. Beatrice screamed and tumbled down the stairs.
"Ah!"
The whole thing happened so fast, and no one was around in the corner where the dispute occurred. Beatrice watched helplessly as she was pushed down. She let out a scream, unable to grasp onto anything as she tumbled down the stairs.
Thalia's hands trembled uncontrollably. "You brought this upon yourself, so don't blame me," she muttered.
Blood slowly oozed from Beatrice's head. She blinked her eyes, eventually losing consciousness.
Thalia glanced around, confirming that this was a blind spot in the surveillance, before hiding to the side. After a couple of minutes, someone finally discovered Beatrice lying there.
"Oh my goodness! What happened here?! Someone, please come quickly! Old Missus Rivera has fallen down the stairs!"
Upon hearing that Beatrice had fallen down the stairs, even the intoxicated guests downstairs sobered up considerably.
"Are you kidding?! Old Missus Rivera was just chatting with friends a moment ago!"
Although they expressed disbelief, everyone understood that nobody would joke about such a serious matter.
The crowd immediately became restless, all pushing toward the spot where Beatrice had fallen.
Meanwhile, Lucas, who had been upstairs with Melody, also heard the terrible news. He abruptly stood up from the sofa, dropping the glass he had been holding, causing it to shatter on the ground. The sound of the glass breaking jolted Melody partly awake. She held her still slightly groggy head.
"Lynette, what did you just say? Please don't joke with us about something like this."
Lynette was on the verge of tears. "Please hurry down. The ambulance is on its way, and Old Missus Rivera... she might not be doing well."
With no further hesitation, Lucas and Melody rushed outside. Melody even stumbled a bit. She deeply regretted drinking because if she had not, she would not be feeling so weak and unable to run. Despite his urgency to check on his grandmother, Lucas also had to consider Melody.
Melody quickly said, "Go check on Grandma quickly. Don't worry about me."
