The Day I Kissed An Older Man

With no strength in her legs and her body limp, Lucas found it easy to scoop Melody up. Normally, she would be reluctant to be seen like that in front of colleagues, but she was in no physical or mental state to refuse.
Especially after her embarrassing display of nonsense in front of all the actors earlier, she felt even more ashamed, wishing she could bury her face in Lucas' chest.
Lucas showed no signs of strain as he carried the 40-kilogram Melody out of the room. Each step he took was steady as if afraid of tipping over the woman in his
arms.
His embrace was warm, and Melody unconsciously drifted off to sleep. When she woke up again, she found herself in the car, with Lucas already seated.
She mumbled his name sleepily, and he turned on the overhead light, asking, "Do you want some water?"
As Melody nodded, he brought the water to her lips.
"Where are we now? Wasn't I at the celebration party just now?"
Melody's eyes darted around, and Lucas could tell she was pretending to forget the embarrassing scene earlier. Instead of exposing her, he simply said, "We're still in the parking lot. I didn't drive when I saw you fall asleep. I thought you wouldn't sleep for long, and sure enough, you woke up. Since you're awake now, how about we go back to the celebration party? They probably haven't left yet. Don't you want to join them for some more drinks?"
Melody's head shook vigorously like a tambourine. "I don't want to drink anymore. I was wrong, Lucas. I shouldn't have drank more than one glass. But I never thought my tolerance would be so low. Don't you remember? Last time, when we drank that bottle of wine we brought back from Molomia, I had three full glasses and didn't get drunk. What happened today? It must be because you weren't with me, so I got drunk."
Melody's cheeks still had a blush, and she looked at Lucas with eyes glossed over. Lucas leaned in instinctively and kissed her lips. "Well, the wine tonight was good. We can come here again next time if you want to drink it. But next time, drinking is absolutely forbidden when I'm not around, understand?"
Everyone present at the celebration party was someone Melody knew, and they were all kind-hearted. Thus, even if she got drunk, it would not matter much. However, in other situations, Melody might not be so lucky.
Ever since the incidents involving Wendy, Lucas had been vigilant about Melody's safety. Whenever she went out, if he could spare the time, he would pick her up.
Even if Paige and the others were with Melody, he still would not feel at ease. They had learned enough from past lessons, and he did not want Melody to experience that kind of fear and anxiety again. Melody nodded. She understood how much Lucas cared about her. Sometimes, they both felt that each other's lives were more important than their own. Thus, she could empathize with Lucas' worries.

"Don't worry. The only reason I drank so much tonight was because Shaun C and the others were present, and i had Paige by my side. I also knew you'd pick me up, so I thought it'd be okay to have two drinks. I won't do it again." Visit bignovels.com to read the latest chapter of this novel
